Ylva Skarp's Christmassy home

Monday, 5 November 2012

I seem to be in country mode at the moment as I simply can't stop showing beautiful homes from the Swedish countryside! This converted school house over looking a lake near Leksand in Dalarna was also photographed by Magdalena Björnsdotter for Lantliv. It's the home of Swedish designer and calligrapher Ylva Skarp and her family. Ylva's personal stamp can be seen throughout the house, which is all decked out for a truly cosy Christmas!

Such a beautiful home! What do you think?

I know it's only November and the last time I mentioned Christmas everyone panicked (haha!), but this home gets me feeling so Christmassy! I can't wait until the first weekend in December when we'll drive out to a farm in the Skåne countryside and chop down our Christmas tree (a family tradition always accompanied with a steaming mug of glögg (mulled wine). Do you have a Christmas tree tradition in your family?

PS Happy Bonfire Night to all my friends in the UK :)

  5. Gorgeous home! I really like those not so traditional Christmas decorations :)
I'm also counting days till December so that I can set myself officially into Christmas mood. We have also a tradition of Christmas tree, but here we'll bring it home just some days before Christmas Eve.

Have a nice start of this week!

  7. This is my favorite kind of Christmas decorating! Whites and grays, oh yes please. I love this home. I'm making it a point to visit Dalarna whenever I make it to Sweden. We love glogg! Though we've only ever had it from the IKEA food market, so I can't swear to its authenticity, haha. But it is yummy on a cold night!

  9. Wonderful - would like to be one time in Sweden to pass Christmas, must be beautiful!
Our tradition is, having dinner with our parents on Christmas Eve and on Christmas we are with our daughters in our weekend chalet, if they have time and don't spend the time, with their friends in the mountains snowboarding!
Have a great time, hugs, Barbara
