A clever, vintage packed home in Madrid

Morning! I have seen this wonderful Madrid home before as I'm sure you have, but it's so wonderful I never tire of it. No guessing why - it has white walls and floors and packed with vintage finds! Not only that, but the vintage and second hand finds are used in such clever and original ways. For example the gymnastic vault in the sitting room storing books and the filing cabinet in the bathroom. Genius! I love it when vintage or second-hand finds are used in a different way than originally intended. Although at cocktail hour I do often think about converting my drinks trolley back to it's former glory!!

What a wonderful home?! Can anyone tell me anything more about it?

Before I leave I wanted to tip you about a couple of fab blog give-aways (other than my own little give-away here of course! - thank you for all the entry so far I've really loved reading all the comments ): Mechant Design is holding a give-away here to win two wonderful lights. And illustrator extroadinaire Tracey English is holding a blog give-away here with a chance to win a great London print! Yaaaay!

And finally, Miss motor-mouth here has one more thing: you may notice my new google ads below each post, this is my way of getting a little back to cover costs so that I can continue to produce the blog I love. I hope you all don't mind :) Have a lovely day!

Waterfall Bay House, New Zealand

Two weeks ago I went to Japan (don't forget to enter my give-away here!) which has been top of my list for a long time. Another country which rates very highly on my 'must visit' countries is New Zealand, particularly the South island. So I was really excited to find this stunning home designed by architects Pete Bossley Architects on the Northern edge of the South island in the beautiful Marlborough Sounds. This home overlooks Waterfall Bay (the name sells it to me alone!!). But reading about the owner here, I am seething with home and life envy (they are involved in the wine and movie industry and they spend a days/few months  here a year....

A timber home mainly accessed by boat. Nothing wrong with spending the summer at this beautiful house! Even in the winter - sitting round that concrete fireplace looking out over Waterfall Bay. Yup. Is it something you can handle?!

A fun, vintage inspired home in Paris

Morning! Hope you had a fab weekend! I thought I'd start the week off with a fun and happy family home in the suburbs of Paris. It's owned by Dorothée the co-founder of My Little Day, an adorable french online children's birthday shop. The home was used for their latest shoot. Thanks so much Design Sponge, the mother of interior design blogs for the inspiration!

Photography: Melanie Rodriguez, art directions: Constance Gennari for The Socialite Family via Design Sponge
I know where I'll be heading when it's time to organise my little girls birthday parties! I loooove their birthday girl kits! I absolutely adore the little dolls push chair in the last pic - so cute, I know one three year old who'd love it. The bed in the children's room is fairly similar to Ikea's MINNEN bed, which looks fab with fairy lights enter-twined for a cosy bedtime reading session.

Any favourites from this home?

Have a lovely day!

A beautiful white cottage by the sea

I hope you've enjoyed my Asian inspired week, I would've loved to have done so much more, there's only one thing for it, I NEED to go back on a personal visit rather than a business trip and take my own images!! Watch this space!! And now it's time for the weekend and here in Sweden everyone's gearing up for the annual trip to either their own or a friend/family's summer cottage. So here's a little inspiration - a beautiful 18th century summer cottage by the sea in Cornwall, England. It had me at the all white....!

Photography: Paul Massey via Dust Jacket Attic
According to Dust Jacket Attic the floorboards are made of reclaimed scaffolding wood which has been white washed and waxed. Beautiful?!

Tonight it's England vs Sweden in Euro 2012. Always tense in our household and I'm actually starting to get very nervous  (I'm english and my man's swedish!). So I'd like to end by saying good luck Sweden, and COME ON England!!!!! May the best men win!

PS If you haven't already - don'¨t forget to enter my blog give-away for your chance to win some genuine Japanese Washi Tape I picked up in Tokyo!

Have a lovely weekend! x

Pretty Chinese lanterns: prints & DIY

On my work trip last week I also went to Hong Kong which gave me my first ever taste of China. Sadly I was there less than 18 hours and so it was all go go GO and no time to take pics! But since then I've found lots of beautiful pictures of Chinese lanterns. Imagine decorating your garden or home with these? So pretty!

And wonder blog SF Girl By Bay has a brilliant guest post about how to make your own Chinese lanterns like the ones below....if you do I'll be super impressed!!

I wish I'd had the time to invest in some lanterns while I was there. I wonder if I have the time to make some myself, the thing is i just know they'll never turn out like the ones above. Hmmm! What do you reckon?

A pretty, pastel Asian inspired home

This Asian inspired home of Carol Dey designed by Peter Wilds (formerly of The Cross), is simply beautiful. I love the pastel colours and mix of old; with a pretty antique wardrobe, vintage suitcases and lamps and the new with the Tulip chair.  Photographed by Janis for Anthology.

I could definitely live in this home. In fact it's inspired me to paint a wall in my home in a pastel. The only thing is my man - he's not going to let me get away with a pink wall. Thankfully he's a little colour blind though :) The other difficulty is finding the exact shade of pink. I think Victoria of SF Girl By Bay gets this right in her home.

Hejsan! When I was in Tokyo last week I picked up some pretty Japanese Washi tape and I'm giving-away four reels of this to one of my wonderful readers! Washi tape is traditionally made from paper and is slightly translucent and is decorated with pretty colours and patterns. It's a fab way to put pictures up on a wall or use in arts and crafts....
