Graceful Finnish apartment with pretty ideas

This home of Lotta Neiminen Helsinki, Finland is wonderful. Very graceful and understated. I love the way Lotta had used fresh flowers everywhere to bring the season in and add a touch of colour. I must head to the florist tomorrow!

A lovely minimalist converted soap factory loft in New York

Morning! hope you had a lovely weekend?! Me, I am going to need more than just a caffe latte to recover. Just soooo tired! The one thing that might help though is looking at this beautiful minimalist New York apartment / work space of architect Elizabeth Roberts in an old soap and wax factory. I love that you can work one minute and crawl into bed the next. Just what I need with minus nine outside!

I paticularly love the the old wooden floor and white washed brick wall, oh so pretty! What do you reckon?

Have a lovely day!

Friday DIY- circular and square basket shelving

It's Frrrrrrrriday!! And here's a DIY project to look forward to over the weekend perhaps? The bloggers from IKEA's Livet Hemma have made this set of circular and square shelves from IKEA's NÄSUM Kista Bananfiber baskets! A DIY take on the Finnish company Muuto's circular shelving system? Incidentally a friend of mine has the Muuto graphite version in her little girls bedroom and they look super cool.

For more information on how to make your own circular shelves click here. If you get round to it, send us a pic! I was hoping to check in later today with more inspiration but alas I've run out of time and my wonderful parents are over from London so I'm off to spend time with them and my little girls (even though it's minus 10 BRRRR!)- yaaaay! So, I hope you have a fab weekend! Thank you for reading my blog, and a big welcome to all you new readers, lovely to see you! See you Monday!

Gothenburg apartment with a touch of modern-romantic wallpaper

So, an interesting apartment today. And I think, the first home I've posted from Sweden's second largest city, Gothenburg. Perhaps not everyone's cup of tea, but personally I love the pale pink and green colour combination and have a bit of a weakness for romantic wallpaper. What do you think?

At first glance I didn't see the harlequin pattern on the wallpaper in the sitting room, but it adds a great interesting touch. Oh and I recognise those prints by Therese Sennerholt. I've got the 'Sweet dreams are made of you' one too!

Have a lovely day!

A beautifully renovated parsonage in the Swedish countryside

This parsonage from the 1700's and featured in Lantliv had been uninhabited for fifty years. And then Gustaf Willers took it over and gave it a whole new lease of life. I absolutely love that he has stayed faithful to the style and the location but added a modern touch. I dream daily about buying a beautiful old Swedish house and renovating it. Perhaps one day i'll be posting about that? but for now, here's someone else's beauty!

If you understand Swedish it's worth taking a read of the article. There are so many lovely touches to the renovation, such as Gustaf's mother colouring in the 800 hand-printed flower baskets on the bedroom wallpaper by hand. Now that's dedication!  Makes me think. What can changes can I make in my home just by taking the time to use good old fashioned handiwork?

A Swedish black and white home with a lovely mix

Susann from Purple Area blog once told me if you would like to find a beautiful home, always look at the home of interior design bloggers (Suzann's home looks wonderful by the way, you can see pics here). The latest Plaza magazine also proves this with the home of the blogger behind the great blog 'Hannas Room'.......

The home has such a lovely mix of furniture, with modern items from IKEA such as the MINNEN extendable children's bed (I've got it for my little girl in white and love it) and beautiful mid-century vintage pieces like the dining room chairs. The bulb fairy lights are likely from Swedish shop Granit as are the white storage boxes shown above. And look.....it's shoes on display again... wonderful!

The pretty London home of Parma Lilic owner

This London home of Janie Jackson, owner of shop Parma Lilac is just so beautiful *sigh*. So simple, so light, so me! And I love the photographic style.

I remember reading an article about how to produce this type of effect with a camera, and one way is to cover the lens with a pair of thin denier tights, yes, I know! Worth a try anyway?! Unless you know of a slightly more modern app?

Happy Monday by the way. I hope you had a lovely weekend?!
