My New Home Office Gallery Wall (From Desenio!)

Kindly sponsored
Since I've been working from home a lot more than usual, I felt I needed to do a little extra with my home office. It's in the corner of my bedroom, so I am always keen to ensure it's pretty to look at too! The answer? Lots of art! I created this gallery wall using prints from Desenio - who sell a huge collection of affordable artwork and ship to over 30 countries worldwide - such a great online resource! As you'll know from other parts of my home - I love a great gallery wall, it's a perfect way to breathe life into a space. My new one has been made up of some beautiful pieces from the collection as well as a blend of different frames and other wall hanging solutions. Read on to find out more! I hope you like it as much I do!

The art I chose is all fairly earthy for a calm look - and yet the style varies from portraits and landscapes to more abstract art.

Do any stand out to you? In case you're curious, the prints include (from left to right): Weimar Shapes No1 (21 x 30) - hung with polka dot washi tapeGobi Desert (30 x 40) in a light wood framePainted Shapes No2 (30 x 40) in a magnetic wood poster hangerOpus No5 (30 x 40) in a black picture frameBerlin Arches No2 (50 x 70) in a white picture frameTove Frank Hush (50 x 70) in a light wood frame and Stairs of Art No1 (30 x 40) in a white picture frame

I think it's always nice to add another element to a gallery wall - like a row of hooks or shelf, it brings the whole look to life and means you can swap in and out elements according to your mood (and without creating a load more holes in the wall! - Been there, done that!).

I particularly love the light wood picture frame. It's the lightest one I've seen, and it has a real warmth to it but it's also very subtle. I think the Stairs of Art No1 is my favourite out of all the artwork (tucked away int he corner) - I've always had a bit of a penchant for photographic architect photography!

I think I'm going to be much happier in this little corner now. It's amazing what a difference artwork can make!

Did you like any of these prints in particular? perhaps something caught your eye for your own home?

If so, I can highly recommend Desenio prints and frames, they're really affordable, yet very good quality and there's a massive selection to choose from. Hop on over to the online store to take a peek!

Stor kram from Sweden!

A Swedish Home Full of Prints, Patterns, Plants and One Very Pretty Kitty!

Men tjeeeena! I hope you had a lovely Easter weekend. Ours was different of course, but we tried out best to make the most of it anyway. During my days off I was searching online for Scandinavian craft ideas and stumbled across Jenny Johansson's blog. Jenny lives in Umeå, North east of Stockholm with her husband and twin son and daughter as well as their very mischievous Siberian cat (keep a look out for him throughout the tour!). Jenny is a florist with a passion for interior design and spends her spare time crafting, gardening and baking - evidence of which can be found throughout her delightful Instagram feed! Welcome to Jenny's world - full of prints, plants and bold patterns!

I love the mix of pattern in this black and white corner of the kitchen, but the real eye-catcher is the 'Bored' print* by Fine Little Day!

I spy a true Scandinavian classic: Iittala tea light holders* in various colours. They look so pretty in the evening when the candles are lit. But  the kitty totally steals the show! Prrrrr

A scene familiar to many right now - making the most of cosy days at home to do all those activities you might not have had the time to do otherwise. I'm very curious to find out what Jenny's knitting, aren't you?!

I love the Berså tea cup and saucer set on the table behind Jenny. Designed by Stig Lindberg in the 60s, the series is a well-loved classic and still in production today but you can also pick up original vintage Berså porcelain here

Jenny's sitting room is made extra cosy with a Söderhamn corner sofa, colourful cushions and lots of plants. The black and white Kompisarna print is by Swedish artist Anna Grundberg.

Jenny's home is full of prints! This fab gallery wall in the hallway is made up of a load of different pieces by Scandinavian artist. The Poster Club* sells similar!

Jenny has created a wonderful outdoor oasis. It's still a little chilly here in Sweden - it actually snowed in Malmö yesterday, can you believe that? I bet Jenny and her family can't wait to move life outside, it looks so cosy!

Oooooh so lovely.

It's nice to see a trampoline peeping into the side of the picture in the garden! Our girls have been on theirs ALL weekend making up various TikTok routines - but I'm not sure it would ever feature on My Scandinavian Home!! I wonder if anyone has ever thought about creating a 'design' version? Maybe with a flower design?!

All in all, a lovely, cosy and personal family home!

Is there anything that stood out to you?

You can see more pictures from Jenny's home and get some DIY / Craft ideas on her blog and instagram

Other Swedish family homes to love today:

Wishing you a lovely day, stay safe friends.

My Malmö Studio: New Gallery Wall!

If you stopped by on Saturday, you'll have seen a first glimpse into my new studio in the centre of Malmö. I moved in last September and can't tell you how great it is to have a permanent desk somewhere out of home  - I was honestly climbing up the walls! I share it with upholsterer extraordinaire Carina Grefmar and designer and CEO of Swedish Ninja Maria Gustavsson - both such talented, inspiring ladies! It was an empty shell when we first got it and Maria and I set about making the desk. This week I finally put something on the wall too: a gallery wall thanks to Posterlounge who sell thousand upon thousands of posters and prints!

Designing The Gallery Wall
I'm always a little cautious about creating a gallery wall since it involves a whole lot of drilling, so I played it safe by designing it on my computer and then using recycled paper, nails and a spirit level before hanging the pictures!

The Prints
I've been feeling so inspired by Danish gallery walls lately. They often have a relaxed, eclectic vibe going on and not afraid to incorporate colour and pattern. I went through the Posterlounge website picking out all the prints I loved and then narrowed them down to a selection which worked well together. I also combined white and natural frames.

Get the look

1. Scandinavian design with marble and gold by Radu Bercan
2. Watercolor Lines in Blue I by Nouveau Prints
3. The Good, The Bad And The Ugly by chungkong
4. Picture frame LOFT (White)
5. Angel by Paul Klee
6. Composition trees I by Piet Mondriaan
7. Adjacent Abstraction I by Emma Scarvey
8. Picture frame LOFT (Natural)
9. Composition in Black and White by Piet Mondriaan

Thank you so much to Posterlounge for helping me feel even more at home - it's amazing how art can transform a space!

If you'd like to add more art to your walls, the fab team at Posterlounge are offering My Scandinavian Home readers a 10% discount with code SCANDI10! Woohoo! Do share if you create your own gallery wall, I'd love to see it!

Next step... a rug. Watch this space!

Danish Design: City Prints By Martin Schwartz

Sponsored*
Do you have a happy place in your home?! Mine is this corner which is always bathed in sunshine and sooooo snuggly. Sadly I never get there first (my children are like cats - they always curl up in the warmest spot in the house before I get there - and then you don't have the heart to move them!). Anyhow, our happy corner of my home has just got a whole lot happier with the help of a new print by local danish designer Martin Schwartz. Martin has a special gift to capture the soul of a city in a single print. Each drawing takes months to create and the buildings are carefully selected and illustrated down to the finest detail - "only then can it depict the true DNA of the city". There are currently 13 cites available with the recent addition of Stockholm!

The level of detail is just incredible!

I also picked out the London city print to add a little piece of 'home' to our Malmö house! It'll serve as a perfect backdrop for when I ask my husband to play 'streets of London' on his guitar (you can imagine his eyes rolling!). But he does love this print at least! It's the small wins, right?!

Take a peek in Martin Schwart's online shop for the full range of city prints. Martin ships throughout Europe!

Do you have a favourite?

My home: new Mapiful print

I love to be surrounded by meaningful prints (you only have to see the gallery in our sitting room). That's why I got totally over excited about Mapiful - a website allowing you to create your own map print featuring anywhere in the world. I tell you, it was difficult to tear me away!  I considered a few places such as the nostalgic London borough I grew up in, and the romantic Swedish west coast village where my Swedish husband and I met. But I finally settled on one of my favourite cities in the world - Copenhagen. The Mapiful print now takes pride of place in our open-plan living space...and serves as a great reminder that the fab danish capital is just a short hop over 'the bridge' or sail across the Öresund, waiting to be explored! Here are a few pics of my map....

Very cool inspiration from OYOY

I'm a big fan of the Danish brand OYOY. Any company who has a vision 'to design functional products in high quality materials with beautiful colours and shapes' has my vote! And they're true to their word. I love the way they have styled these images with items from their Autumn/Winter 2013 collection. If you love accessorising your home with cushions, candle holders etc like I do (my husband has actually put a ban on me buying any more cushions - luckily he's not terribly observant!), you'll love this company.

OYOY via Riazzoli with thanks

If you're on the look out for some cool black and white prints like the ones you see here, Lotta Agaton's webshop is a great source. I also love art by Danish graphic designer Silke Bonde

Before I head off into the gloomy Southern Swedish weather this morning I'm extremely excited to introduce my new sponsor The Linen Works.  The Linen Works sells relaxed washed bed and table linen in soft muted tones, as well as kitchen linen and fabric by the metre for creating curtains, blinds etc and the good news is they ship worldwide. I absolutely love high quality linen which only gets softer and more beautiful the more you wash it but I'm having a hard time choosing between the Cassis Rose bed linen and Toulon Grey bed linen for my bedroom what do you reckon? Both?! Ha! A big warm welcome to The Linen Works

Have a lovely day - hope it's not pouring with rain where you are too?!

Elina Dahl's happy home

This apartment belongs to talented Swedish designer Elina Dahl (currently for sale). It looks like such a happy home. I love the choice of colours in the sitting room, and Elina's wonderful prints through out.

Styling: Klara Markbåge, photography: Karin Foberg for Älskade hem

We need a post sorter like this in our home - our post is soooo messy with piles of it all over the breakfast bar. Someone once told me that you should only ever handle an item you receive in the post once; i.e. as soon as you open it, file it / recycle it/ whatever immediately. How are you with this?! I'm hopeless despite best efforts!

If you like Elina's prints, you could try your luck in her give-away to win a print of your choice this week. And while we're in the mood for competitions (always) there's a great one over at Nest to win an original 1227 Anglepoise Desk Lamp here.

Have a lovely day!
