A serene, white home with vintage pieces

Morning! I must say, I feel like a different person this morning after my wonderful weekend at Varberg Asia Spa. If you're in need of some R&R I could seriously recommend this incredible spa in Varberg, Halland on the Swedish West coast (do the over night package!). As a result, here's a beautiful, white, serene home from the UK which perfectly fits my mood this Monday morning. I love the vintage touches and Scandinavian feel (of course!).  I recognise the kitchen from the Delicious Miss Dahl cookery show featuring former model Sophie Dahl.

Via French By Design with thanks!

Oooh to sit on one of those chaise longue's in this day room and relax with a magazine in the sun light. IKEA's EKTORP chaise longue is like this. Wonderful!

PS - Thank you so much to Gosia from the wonderful blog Majology for nominating me for the Liebster Blog Award, you've made my day!

Have a lovely day!

  1. Ohlala, that is great!!! I think, I will have to moove all my colourful accessories, to get such a nice ambiance. What do you think about that? I am very interesting in your opinion! Should I leave my violet and turquoise accessories and leave everything in natural colours? Looking forward to your lovely answer, I remain with hugs, Barbara

    1. Morning Barbara! Hope you had a lovely weekend! Loving a style in pictures and living with a style in reality are two completely different things. I love the idea of a white, minimalist home too and then when it comes to my own space I can't help but add a little colour...then mess it up a little, etc before I know it, I'm back to the way it was before!....if you're drawn to violet and turquoise and it makes you happy in the morning then keep it -after all pastels are the colours du jour for 2012! However, if you would like a change you could re-design one room such as you bedroom to the style you're after and see how it feels. You may find just adding violet and tourquoise cushions gives you the pop of colour you need....Does anyone else have advice for Barbara? Have a lovely day! Hugs, Niki.

  2. ....but why would you want your kitchen splash-back to resemble a urinal?? What is this awful penchant for these white, brick-like tiles? Horrible, ladies, just horrible!

    1. great to hear your opinion lynn :-) . I like the industrial style and these tiles remind me of London underground. I have never thought of them in the urinal way, so funny! Infact you have remind me of a vintage loo I once saw being used as a plant pot, definitely a step to far for me that time!

    2. Hah! Yes, there are plenty of oddities about, aren't there? My very favourite very bizarre public loo was in Central Park, New York, we visited it when we were there 15 years ago. Very opulent, over the top, mosaics, coloured glass baubles you name it. Totally ridiculous but strangely compelling!
No, it's not that I'm against white tiles, it's just that there's so many pictures of them looking brick-like, and I'm afraid , yes, they do strike me as being reminiscent of a urinal! And not in a kitchen, surely!

  3. There are so many great details in this home. Like the wonderful painted floors and the unpainted stair 'runner'. Glad to hear you enjoyed your spa getaway.

  4. I really love the bed in the apex. As a kid this would have been my perfect little hide-away. The interior is stunning with all unique and individual pieces of furniture and the calm white palette. Very beautiful. Thanks for a great post!
